Housing developer Persimmon Homes has awarded Crawshaw District Rangers £1,000 to fund international camp for Girl Guide members.
Group members Rosie Kelly and Laura Oliver, age 15, have proudly been selected to represent Girlguiding at international camps in Austria and Eire.
They were awarded the cash as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
The cash donation means they have raised all required funds to go on their trip.
Glenda Holt, leader of Crawshaw District Rangers, said: “Rosie and Laura have been dedicated members of Girl Guiding from a young age, participating in all that is on offer with commitment and dedication.
“The girls have been working hard to raise funds themselves, with sponsored bike rides, cake sales, dog walking, lawn cutting, pamper evenings, and all whilst they have been revising for their GCSEs.
“This donation is the final push and they are quite simply over the moon to have reached their fundraising target.
“Both Rosie and Laura will participate in community causes whilst on the international camps – it is a fantastic opportunity.”
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands said: “What a fantastic opportunity for these girls. Their commitment to fundraising has really impressed us so we’re thrilled to be able to offer our support and help Rosie and Laura on their travels.
“We would encourage those that have not been chosen to try again for a chance to become our latest Community Champion beneficiary.”
